Freelance Tradestand & Kiosk Designer – My Skills
Based on my experiences from designing kiosks, booths, trade stands, and shop fit-outs.
Here is a short overview of my skills:
I can draw, map, plan, illustrate, ideate, design, and format an idea for reference and presentation.
These documents and drawings can be used to present 'intent' to landlords, leaseholders and stand builders. Many of whom like to see concepts before agreeing to construction and signing official documentation. I should note, I am not a safety specialist or 3D artist.
I'm a conceptual and pragmatic draftsman in lay terms who has gained experience working as a trade stand & kiosk designer.
My formal education lies within design. As part of my design career, I now offer these skills on a freelance basis.
Freelance Kiosk & Shop Plan Designer
As part of a niche skill of freelance exhibition & trade kiosk design, I can also design retail kiosks and shops! As a freelance kiosk & shop plan designer, I have worked on initial shop concepts, floor plans, drawings, construction ideas, storage ideas and a host of other elements that comes with helping a client to get a shop designed and fabricated.
From creating brand orientated signage to considering the functionality of your shop, this is something I would be happy to help draft.
For the company Mobilise, I was commissioned to design and plan a series B2C retail kiosks. These kiosks were built in a selection shopping centres in and around London.
In addition to designing some of their kiosks, I was also commissioned to create a shop interior. A more complex project logistically speaking, as additional requirements needed to be considered in its construction. Such as the shutters, window signage, retail display, ceiling, flooring and shelving.
I illustrated this project as part of a proposal for the shop design. Both as a freelance kiosk designer and trade stand designer, I have also visited sights.

From the UK to Germany, from London to Birmingham, I have worked on a variety of stands which have graced B2B exhibition halls and retail shopping centres.
From creating the floor plans to eclectic themes, I have worked on a variety of weird and wonderful projects over the years.

I have planned, conceptualised and designed stands which have been modular or fixed. So they can be deconstructed and transported and moved from show to show.
I have also attended shows to help on key set-up dates and also offer some assistance in the early days of opening their stands.

Methods and approaches
- Brand Personality - In addition to the above, I will consider the brand for the kiosk, not just the logo
- Budget - Discussing a budget is important, I try to be budget conscious when coming up with stand designs but, I cannot be paid peanuts!
- Time Scales - This is also an important factor when creating your stand.
- I cannot design in 3D – Sorry, I do not have these skills at this time. Although I am happy to work with 3D visualisers.
- I'm not a safety specialist – I don't not have, own or proclaim to know about safety to a professional degree. My specialism is in only the design, proof of concept, branding, signing, functionality, resistant materials and how to create an engaging experience for a customer. I am happy to collaborate with a safety specialist, however.
- Fees and rates : I will either work on a fixed day rate, or on a project-by-project basis. All of which need to factor in overhead costs, expenses, and trying to run a design business.
- Site visit: I can visit sites if they are within commuting distance. I can assist with setup and also help on the early days of your stand. Money will need to be paid and booked in advance.
- Important - Please note that I'm only able to design, plan and conceptualise your stand I will not be able to build it, manfacture or transport it to your show.
