As part of a new set of commercial 'pilot' services, I am now looking to offer design workshops both online and offline on a 'pay as you go' basis. I would be happy to cater to any budding enthusiasts or eager professionals in the making.

Stuck in a rut? Need an extra boost or are you a keen hobbyist? These are all things that my service may be able to help with.

The locations I can are ... more or less anywhere in a GMT timezone: South East England, London, UK, Remote! Geographical location need not be a barrier to your education and gaining new skills.

My workshops and tutorials can act as supplemental education and stepping stones in your design journey. Whether you are a budding creative, hobbyist or a part of an in-house team – I can help to add some applicable skills and theoretical knowledge to design and design thinking that will hopefully carry you in better stead!

Locations

I am currently based in Bedfordshire with access to a flex-space based in Kings Cross London. If you are looking for design help or tuition, I would be happy to offer my time via video remotely to anybody in the country, London, the home counties or the surrounding areas.

It should be noted that for bespoke workshops in person on a 1 to 1 one basis, I would need to charge for preparation 'and travel'.

Tutorial Formats – Freelance Design Tutoring Via Zoom

As this is still a pilot scheme the dominant format in which I can offer tutorials or online workshops is via video using Zoom for 40 minutes.

To take part in the online video tutorials, you will need a working PC with sound enabled for the tutorials to take part.

A one-to-one will last for 40 minutes, with the first introductory tutorial offering a bonus 40 minutes if pre-booked and paid for. My time is non-refundable.

Portfolio Surgeries

The way designers show their portfolios has changed so much in recent years it is questionable whether we still need physical portfolios. I am in the camp 'it is better to have a both' Both being a physical and digital portfolio.

When hiring graduate designers for a role in my department at a former company, I was accustomed to looking through portfolios and would be happy to offer some tips and opinions here. A single bumper session may be enough to offer food for thought.

Happy to offer my opinions and time in exchange of a fee.

*Design Workshop Rates

My rates are subject to change but for those who earn a full-time income, my rates are *£45 per 40-minute video session. Small discounts can be offered with block bookings and to students and pensioners.

Money will need to be paid before lessens. I will need to arrange time and plan for the workshops in advance. I will not take lessons without a prior booking to confirm that somebody is willing to attend.

*As this is a pilot venture and new testing ground, the first lesson will be extended into 2 sessions or buy 1 or buy 1 get 1 free!

40 Minutes PLUS an extra 40 minute on the first workshop, lesson, consultation or surgery. Now that is value for money!

Hardware : My tutorials will run from a laptop via Zoom or as stated above – in person. If this doesn't sound like a fit for you, please consider taking a look at my blog for some free tutorials.
What My Design Workshops Cannot Offer : As much as I would love to state that my workshops are a replacement for education, they are not a replacement for a full-time accredited design course! ( Sorry )

I would always encourage those eager to learn Graphic design to become a professional to explore options in higher education, with in-person participation if possible.

What I can offer is real-world design experience in applied to a real-world environment, with some guidance in making you and your portfolio commercially appealing.

I should also note that I cannot create work for you or remotely edit your work. I can however work from my computer and show you from my desktop what to edit.
